L81E - Devnya Cement Outsources a Lot But Reasonably
If the logistics process in Devnya Cement has to be described in just one sentence (the company is part of Italcementi 
Group), so it will state: Annually 2 to 3 million tons of raw materials are transported to the plant, while about 2.5 million tons of finished products are going out from it.
About 75% of the production is an industrial product – bulk cement that goes directly to concrete centers and factories producing concrete materials. Sometimes the shipping reaches up to 7-8 thousand tons daily. Meanwhile 6-7 thousand tons of raw materials are going in. These are about 300 trucks, and only a perfectly organized logistics process with a very precise schedule can provide a trouble-free work flow.
“Our policy states that the work teams have to concentrate on the production process – a higher quality, more sales, a constant marketing, a good administration of the separate units in the chain, and any complementary activities that we feel we are not able to manage, we outsource them to third parties,” comments Ivan Atanasov, CEO of Devnya Cement.
