L706E - The Paper Pallets – the New Passion of the Logistics
For the leading German producer of doors, laminat and plywood Westag & Geralit AG from Westfalia, the europallets for repeated usage are in the past now. The story begins with the following problem: the doors and their frames cannot be gathered up on any kind of a standard cargo carrier. Up to recently, the doors were packed so, that the customer receives along with the door a designed by size wooden-chip board plane and a specially-made wooden pallet. But the material became more expensive and the cargo carriers often disappeared by the customers. The solution was found by the Czech company Melecky a.s. It produces very strong cardboard with structure, resembling bee cells. Pellets for single usage, made from the same material are also being bought. They appear to be more light, stable and cheaper cargo carriers. Moreover, these pellets do not need money expenses for transportation and management to the way back. The problem with returning the pallets does not exist any more, as well.
